Children in Sport

Children in Sport is a initiative that was launched by Sask Sport. The idea behind the program is that sport should be a fun, positive experience for children that allow them to make new friends, learn new skills and develop new interests. The focus is on the process to overall sport development in children to promote lifelong participation and enjoyment in sport. To achieve this goal Children In Sport is delivering an education program to parents, volunteers and coaches of the sport programs for children ages 5-10. The program offers a wide range of resource materials including:

An Orientation Guide for Sport Leaders: is a guide for a leader to deliver a Children In Sport presentation, includes sample letters, an agenda and questions and answers. FREE

Resource Guide for Parents: looks at how parents can be a positive sport parent, information on what kids want and how to keep sport in perspective. FREE

Resource Manual for Sport Leaders: a great resource! Provides 100 different warm up activities, information on basic motor skill development and getting kids to participate in a variety of sports, Bill of Rights for children in sport, sample lesson plans and MORE! $25.00

Public Service Announcements: announcements that can be put out on the radio, in newsletters to let the community know about Children in Sport. FREE

Children in Sport Posters: is a Top 10 list of "Why Do Children Play Sports". FREE

Children in Sport Video: a 23 minute informational video for parents, coaches, officials and volunteers. $10.00

The resources mentioned would help a coach, volunteer or parent enhance or modify their present program or help in the creation of a new one!
